Paper 1 Sample test
ELPACst Paper 1 - ListeningComprehension, sample version.
For the moment we cannot provide you with the full version but we at least prepared a few items for each test part. A complete sample test version should be released in the second half of 2010.
The aim of the sample items is to help you familiarise yourself, as a potential test taker, with the structure and items of ELPACst Paper 1. The sample version will not assess the level of your proficiency in the English language. At the end of the test you will be provided with a marking scheme listing suggested and inappropriate responses to individual test items. You will also see the answers you gave and thus will be able to compare them with the suggested responses.
On the sample version you will hear actual test instructions. The only difference from the real test is that here you will be presented with only a few items for each part. The example items are the same here and in the live test versions.
ELPACst Paper 1 has 5 Parts, designed to test arange of different listening skills.
As each Part appears on the screen before you, you will read and hear instructions on how to answer the questions – by clicking on boxes in a table or by typing a few words in the space provided. You will not lose marks for spelling mistakes.
Before the recording for each Part or sub-section starts you will have a short period of time to study the questions. An example of the task that you have to do for each Part is presented to you. Do not attempt to answer the example - the answers appear automatically.
There will be a short pause after each item before you hear the next one.
The test is time-driven so that once it starts you must complete each item as it is presented to you. When Part 5 is finished you will hear “That is the end of the test” and you will be able to see how your answers compare to the suggested responses.
